We are done with John 8, and I apologise for delaying this post .. however today we start with John 9.
"As he passed by he saw a man blind from birth, his disciples asked him, RABBI WHO SINNED ..this man or his parents, that he was born blind?
"He annointed the mans eye with mud and said to him GO WASH IN THE POOL OF SILOAM"
Lately God has been teaching me the true meaning of mercy, not that I have totally understood, but I can see traces of mercy or sometimes even LACK of it ....in my own life path. There have been numerous times when I have been the BLIND MAN and the fellow blind men have asked ....who do you think has really SINNED ..
Many a times I have been the one asking RABBI WHO SINNED...Now I would love to illustrate the weakness of disciples, but not today .. today I would be delighted to illustrate the MERCY of CHRIST
BLIND FROM BIRTH - this blind man is a true representation of the entire human race .. no other character can represent our position better than this man .. just like him .. we were ALL born in sin .. just like him we were in the most dejected state .. when Jesus SAW us .. but some of you might say .. well .. even if he did SEE me NOTHING HAPPENED.. I am CONFUSED
I want to dwell in this confusion for a while ... Jesus SEES every human even today ..
There are two things that happen when Jesus SEES ...one is the Spirit response and the other is physical response
The moment this blind man stood in the presence of Jesus .. his Spiritual eyes were open .. his spirit received a flash of light .. but look carefully .. his physical eyes were still SHUT
It was only after the physical response which comes by obeying Jesus .. and walking in the LIGHT of SALVATION that he got a restored vision. He obeyed Christ even after years of unsuccessful attempts of restored sight , even after years of hurt and pain that humanity inflicted by asking " RABBI WHO SINNED" .. even the injustice he thought he suffered when others were born with sight but not him .....he still had life in his bones ... and hope in his being.. that allowed him to respond to Jesus in faith. Question for us .. even after all that you are going through or went through .. if Jesus asks you to go to the pool will you believe ? ☺️
My beloved reader ...the one who holds Jesus close to your heart ...and the one who wonders where he is...until and unless you respond in hope spiritually and physically your SIGHT will never be restored. It is only his MERCY that he gives us chances to run to the POOL of SILOAM.. but only after the first step can your restoration be assured.
Jesus is not just a miracle worker but he is the epitome of MERCY .. in this story you will be assured that even the followers of Christ ( disciples) lacked the revelation of mercy .Even though MERCY himself walked close to them .. they failed to grasp it .. I can say ... they missed it.
How much more is the present world lacking mercy .. how much more are we in the danger of asking "RABBI WHO SINNED "
Isaiah 9:18-19 says " wickedness burns like a fire, it consumes.. NO ONE SPARES ANOTHER.. they slice meat on the right but still are hungry"
This is very serious .. incase you have managed to read through till this point .. then here is the real deal .. walking with Christ , eating with him , singing with him , seeing his mighty works can still leave us without MERCY just like the disciples .. listen carefully .. after watching and observing Christ for so long ... it was the disciples turn to tell Jesus ... LOrd look at this beloved man..Rabbi please heal him .. see his state lord ... wonderful Jesus please have mercy on our brother
But instead they judged him .. there was no room for mercy in their hearts ...
Even today .. we are standing at the same point .. we have the word .. but no mercy .. we have the songs but no mercy .. we have Jesus .. but no mercy
Isaiah 9 is a picture of our future .. "NONE SPARES THE OTHER" unless we bend our knees.. fall flat on the ground and say LORD SHOW ME YOUR MERCY that I may understand and walk in it.. John chapter 9 would have been a different story altogether if the disciples knew this ...
But in Gods grace I hope the one who believes in today's word will write a NEW STORY .. a story of a BLIND MAN helped by someone who had the MERCY of Christ .. 🙂 wouldn't that be a wonderful story ?
In that story .. no one shall ask RABBI WHO SINNED ?
Stay blessed 💕
